Why I write.

I believe in the power of stories

What I believe:

I’m a storyteller, journalist, evidential medium, and Reiki master. I believe that stories and energy unite us.

When I write, I always attempt to look for the extraordinary inside the ordinary. Those stories might inform or entertain, but hopefully, they connect us, allowing us to really look at ourselves and understand those around us. Hopefully, they’re that vital reminder that we’re really part of something bigger. That we matter.

I’ve also discovered that we’re not only connected through words, but through an energy that spans time and space. Consider the times you’ve thought of someone and then they call you at that moment. Or the way an invisible energy beats your heart without you having to do a thing. These are the tiny reminders, again, that we’re part of something bigger. That we matter. Everyone has a story, and it endures beyond a lifetime.

About Jennifer Alsever

  • Journalist: For three decades, I contributed to such publications as Fortune Magazine, the Wall Street Journal, the New York Times, Inc Magazine, Wired Magazine, and Fast Company.

  • Young adult author: In 2016, I dove into young adult fiction, publishing five award-winning novels, including the Trinity Forest Series: Ember Burning, Oshun Rising & Venus Shining, Extraordinary Lies, and Burying Eva Flores.

  • Adult psychological suspense author: In 2026, I will release my sixth novel, The Last Time I Knew You, an adult suspense title about a young mother must fight for survival after her child mysteriously hints that she lived —and died— decades earlier on their ranch. Get an alert when it’s out.

  • Spiritual author: In 2026, I will release a non-fiction title, Tapped In, a giftable book about ordinary people and extraordinary stories of breakthroughs, healing and spiritual connection— and lessons you can apply to your own life. Get a note when it’s available.

  • Reiki master and evidential medium: In 2020, my own journey sent me a path to discover the power of Reiki, a Japanese energy healing, and then to learn evidential mediumship. These two modalities of connection have been life altering for me, and deeply meaningful and healing for both me and hopefully for others too.

You’ll find me in the mountains of Colorado, where I enjoy yoga, hiking, mountain biking, and skiing with good friends and my family— two adult sons, one teen nephew, our dog, Max, and the love of my life, Kevin.
